Ruse BDŽ - Giurgiu CFR: [D] BDŽ works to Giurgiu Nord. This route carries the main international services between Bucureşti and Bulgaria/Greece.
(Sindel -) Kardam BDŽ - Negru Vodă CFR (- Medgidia): [D] A daily train pair has been running between Bucureşti and Varna in summer 2009, with a locomotive change at Kardam. Originally planned for the period 15 June 2009 - 6 September 2009, information on the CFR website suggests that it will only operate until 9 August 2009.

(Mátészalka - Kocsord - Fehérgyarmat -) Zajta MÁV - Satu Mare CFR: Line closed and lifted. It is interesting to note that after World World 1 and the peace treaty of Trianon, the line between Fehérgyarmat and Zajta was cut off from the remainder of the Hungarian railway network, because the line from Kocsord to Fehérgyarmat was only built in the late 1920s.
Csenger MÁV - Satu Mare CFR: Line closed and lifted.
(Mátészalka -) Tiborszállás MÁV - Carei CFR: [D] MÁV works to Carei. The MÁV border station was Ágerdömajor until 31 January 2004, since when no trains have called there. Prior to 1 June 2004 use of this border crossing was restricted to local residents, but since then it has been available to all citizens of Romania and the European Union.
(Debrecen -) Nyírábrány MÁV - Valea lui Mihai CFR (- Carei): [D] MÁV works to Valea lui Mihai.
Nagykereki MÁV - Episcopia Bihor CFR: Line abandoned after World War 2.
(Püspökladány -) Biharkeresztes MÁV - Episcopia Bihor CFR (- Oradea): [D] CFR works to Biharkeresztes. Note that reservations are required when travelling from Budapest/Püspökladány towards Romania.
Körösnagyharsány MÁV - Cheresig CFR: Line closed and lifted.
(Békéscsaba -) Kötegyán MÁV - Salonta CFR: [D] MÁV works to Salonta.
Kötegyán MÁV - Ciumeghiu CFR: Line lifted after World War 1, in the 1920s.
(Kétegyháza -) Elek MÁV - Graniceri CFR: Line closed and lifted.
(Békéscsaba -) Lőkösháza MÁV - Curtici CFR (- Arad): [E] MÁV works to Curtici.
Battonya MÁV - Pecica CFR: Line abandoned after World War 2.
(Mako -) Apátfalva MÁV - Cenad CFR (- Sânnicolau Mare): Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Cenad.

(Chişinău -) Ungheni CFM - Cristesti Jijia CFR (- Iaşi): [D] CFR operates 1435mm gauge trains to Ungheni.
(Basarabeasca -) Prut-2 CFM - Fălciu CFR (- Bârlad): [D] The track between Prut-2 and Fălciu was dual 1435/1520 mm gauge, but in 2008 the 1435 mm gauge rails were reported as disused and cut in places. The passenger service on this route appears to have ceased as from the start of the 2009/2010 timetable period.
(Reni (Ukraine) -) Giurgiulesty CFM - Galaţi CFR (- Barboşi): [D] A 1520mm gauge track for freight only runs from the Danube port at Galaţi (Romania) to the transhipment area of Giurgiulesty (Moldova) and continues to Reni (Ukraine).

(Oraviţa -) Iam CFR - Vrac S: Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Iam.
(Gătaia -) Jamu Mare CFR - Vrac S: Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Jamu Mare.
(Timişoara -) Stamora Moravita CFR - Vrac S (- Beograd): [D] CFR operates to Vrac.
(Timişoara -) Jimbolia CFR - Kikinda S: [D] S operates to Jimbolia.
(Timişoara -) Cruceni CFR - Jaa Tomić S (- Sečanj): Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Cruceni.
(Cărpiniş -) Ionel CFR - Međa S - border - border - Jaa Tomić S (- Sečanj): Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Ionel.
(Sânnicolau Mare -) Vălcani CFR - Vrbica S: Line closed. CFR operates passenger trains as far as Vălcani.

(Satu Mare -) Halmeu CFR - Djakovo UZ (- Korolevo): [D] Freight-only and dual gauge. 1520mm gauge traffic runs to and from the gauge-changing and transfer facilities at Halmeu. 1435mm gauge traffic runs via the Ukrainian corridor line to Čop, with links to and from Čierna nad Tisou in Slovakia and Záhony in Hungary which despite doubts was still in use in Spring 2010.
(Sighetu Marmaţiei -) Câmpulung la Tisa CFR - Teresva UZ: [D] Teresva to Câmpulung la Tisa is 1520mm gauge only, with dual gauge 1435mm/1520mm from there to Valea Vişeului. This crossing is now out of use. CFR 1435mm gauge freight traffic to Câmpulung la Tisa has ceased west of Sighetu Marmaţiei.
(Sighetu Marmaţiei -) Valea Vişeului CFR - Dilove UZ (- Rakhiv): [D] The route across the border to Valea Vişeului is 1520mm gauge only and has been out of use since April 2006 owing to serious flood damage.
(Dorneşti -) Vicşani CFR - Vadul Siret UZ (- Cernovtsi): [D] Carries both freight and passenger traffic. Sofia - Bucuresti - Kyiv / Moskva trains run via this route. UZ carries freight as far as Dorneşti on 1520mm tracks.
(Barboşi -) Galaţi CFR - Reni UZ: [D] The route across the border is 1520mm gauge and extends to the trans-shipment area at Galaţi. There are no passenger services.
