Obscure services

Luxembourg — Oetrange via Luxembourg Triage (yard), Luxembourg Sud, Berchem Est and Syren [30] (18A2) LU06/1

This route, which starts by running south from Luxembourg station on the east side of the freight yard, provides an alternative route between Luxembourg station and the Trier line. It can be used only by trains which do not stop at Cents Hamm or Sandweiler Contern - but not all such non-stop trains use the route. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to identify from the public timetable which trains use this route but during timetable year 2004/5 those trains timed at 31/32 minutes between Luxembourg and Wasserbillig ran via Syren and appear to continue to do so during the current year:

bullet From Luxembourg: 19:15 (5225), 21:15 (5229).
bullet From Wasserbillig: 08:13 (5212), 10:13 (5216), 12:13 (5218), 14:13 (5222), 16:13 (5224), 17:42 (5226), 18:13 (5228).

Luxembourg avoiding line: Bertrange-Strassen (Luxembourg Hollerich, km 1.4) — Luxembourg Sud (km 14.0) via Luxembourg Triage (yard) (18A2) LU06/2

This line, which avoids Luxembourg City to the south, links the line from Belgium via Arlon with the line to France via Thionville.

E FO 1400/1 's Hertogenbosch - 20:12 Maastricht - Avignon Sud A [Treinreiswinkel]
E SO 1402/3 19:11 Avignon Sud - 's Hertogenbosch A [Treinreiswinkel]

Though originally planned for summer 2006, the following trains will not commence until further notice:

E FO 1420 Denderleeuw - 20.57 Arlon - Narbonne A [The Train Company]
E SO 1422 Narbonne - 19.08 Avignon Centre - Denderleeuw A [The Train Company]

Other sparse services:

The cross-border line between Rodange and Longwy (FR) is limited to a curiously unbalanced service, SuX.

Deletions since last edition:

Berchem — Oetrange via Alzingen and Syren: LU05/2: no regular service since at least 2003.
