Just past Barton & Broughton the Coin Stability Test (copyright Roger Ford) was performed. As can be seen from the GPS Status screen we are doing 110 mph. Both coins stayed upright for 5 to 10 seconds, the longitudinal ride being slightly better than the lateral. This is better than has been seen on the Hitachi 80X family. The train was full and standing at the time (an estimated 500+ passengers for an official seating capacity of 296) due to the service carrying passengers transferred from another operator's service, in turn due to delays caused by overhead line problems.
