Looking southwards along the old main road towards Hollins Green village (replaced by the A57 bypass), the HS2 planned route climbs here from right to left with the 1320 m long viaduct over the Manchester Ship Canal. At this point there will be about 19 m height from rail level to road level; this is all to get the required clearance over the Ship Canal.
