In the early 1850s the Fleetwood, Preston and West Riding Junction Railway started to build a new railway between Grimsargh, on the Preston & Longridge Railway which they had recently bought, to Skipton. The only known work done includes this short embankment and a cutting near Hurst Green, some 5 miles east of Longridge. The project collapsed in 1852.
