Bitola station, looking north. The slightly strange track layout here, with what was clearly the original route to the left and the newer route to Veles and Skopje to the right, is explained by the fact that Bitola was the northern terminus of the Thessaliniki to Bitola Railway, opened in 1894 when the area was controlled by the Ottoman Empire.
