Glazebrook East Jn to Skelton Jn Line: Cadishead area (Glazebrook and Cadishead)
Cadishead viaduct carries the post-1893 alignment over the Manchester Ship Canal; it is in poor condition, and access to it is prevented by rows of containers on each side. There was also a three-span steel viaduct just to the east, this has been removed completely, leaving just one abutment as a reminder. Also, previously unknown to me, there are remains of the original 1873 viaduct over the River Mersey - which now flows along the Ship Canal in this area. Further west are the station site at Cadishead and the junction with the Cheshire Lines Committee main line at Glazebrook. Most photos are from 2020 and 2021, but some are from a visit in 1993 when Glazebrook sidings were still in use.
