An afternoon bike ride from home: out via the Trans Pennine Trail to Heatley, then via the leafy Cheshire lanes via High Legh to Northwich, for a look around the railway junctions there. On to an area I've not looked at before, the remains of the Wallerscote Light Railway that connected the ICI works at Northwich with the West Coast Main Line at Gorstage Sidings. Turning for home, I used the path alongside the Weaver Navigation as far as Saltersford Locks, then along the Trent and Mersey Canal - including over the top of the hill at Saltersford Tunnel as there is no towpath through it. Then back home through the lanes via Comberbach and Great Budworth and back onto the outward route.
Started very sunny and ended with a few showers. Total distance covered was 47 miles.
