The Peak Forest Canal crosses the River Goyt on this fine three arch aqueduct, opened in 1800. The nearest arch suffered a partial failure in 1860 and was repaired; however in 1962 a similar problem was ignored and the side of the arch collapsed. Fortunately funds were found to repair it, even though the canal was disused by then.
