Cadishead viaduct, by which the Glazebrook East Jn - Skelton Jn line (opened on this alignment in 1893 as Ship Canal Railway Deviation No.4), closed to all traffic in 1984) crosses the Manchester Ship Canal. To the right, on the east side of the main viaduct, is the remaining abutment of the removed three-span girder viaduct that was provided to cross the original course of the River Mersey, before it was diverted into the Ship Canal.
