Looking north-eastwards from Runcorn Road bridge, this is the original course of the Great Western Railway (GWR) from Helsby and Chester towards Warrington. The leftwards curve in the distance is where Railway Deviation No.2 starts, the route straight on being the original pre-1893 route.
