Approaching the large expanse of water at Weston where the River Weaver (out of view to the right) meets the Manchester Ship Canal. Also out of sight to the right is Marsh Lock which gives access to the Weaver Navigation. To the left, beyond the concrete wall and at a lower level, is the River Mersey. Further along are the sluices which allow excess water to enter the Mersey. Narrow boat "Lockdown" is waiting for us and will follow us into Marsh Lock.
