Entering Marsh Lock, which has a rise of only a few feet. This will take us up into the Weaver Navigation from the Manchester Ship Canal. Beyond the lock, the Weaver Navigation heads straight on towards Frodsham, Dutton and Northwich; beyond the lock and to the left the Weaver Navigation continues, paralleling the Manchester Ship Canal but at the slightly higher level, to Weston Point Docks at Runcorn. Note the railway-style semaphore signals at either end of the lock: a feature of all the Weaver Navigation locks, and originally used by lockkeepers to manage the flow of traffic, they have been disused for a long time.
