Looking south-eastwards towards Buxton, at the Barmoor Clough lay-by, the route of the Peak Forest Tramway is now sandwiched in between the road and the L&NWR line; the Peak Forest Tramway was in fact realigned somewhat here in 1860 to accommodate the new railway line. The Tramway pre-dates the A6 by a few years, the Chapel Turnpike being opened in about 1801. It's fascinating that the three transport routes co-existed here from 1860 to the 1920s.
