Paul Steane's Photography Pages

Alongside Ashbourne Lane, the minor road that crosses Eaves Tunnel (Stockport, Disley and Whaley Bridge Railway, Buxton extension, opened 1863) is this large mound of spoil, presumably dug out during the tunnel construction. The tunnel was supposed to be 300 yards long but ended up as 431 yards long.
