RENFE AVE class 106 set 59 has arrived at Santiago de Compostela with train AVE 4345, the 17:45 departure to A Coruña, and which I am about to board. Class 106 are the new "Avril" Talgo trains, able to work on both standard and broad gauges; they are the first gauge-convertible trains to be labeled as "AVE" - prior to class 106 introduction in mid May 2024, AVE services were "by definition" standard gauge only. This train had started at Madrid Chamartín at 14:41, running via Zamora, the gauge changer at Taboadela east of Ourense, and Ourense.
