This bridge carries the A56 Warrington to Lymm road (between Latchford and Lymm) over the original 1853 alignment of the Warrington and Altrincham Junction Railway. This was replaced by "Deviation No.3" in 1893 ready for the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal; the trackbed of the newer line, lifted in 1988, is behind the camera, and now forms part of the Trans Pennine Trail.
