The Chanza Canal, running from the Chanza Reservoir on the Spain/Portugal border near Pomarão, provides a water supply to Huelva. Between the reservoir and El Granado it passes through several tunnels, including this one, through a short ridge, just off the HU-6400 El Granado - Pomarão road. The fence line above the tunnel portal marks the course of the Guadiana Railway, a walking/cycling route at this point.
