Some photos from a bike ride around the Latchford area. Lots to see: the original course of the River Mersey before the Manchester Ship Canal was built; canals and locks that were built to make navigation of the Mersey easier before the Ship Canal was built; Latchford Locks themselves, which bizarrely carry a pedestrian right of way over the lock gates, surrounded by the deep and wide locks; and the pre- and post-Ship Canal routes of the Warrington and Altrincham Junction Railway, disused since 1985. For a map of the area see Open Street Map.
