Monday 23rd January 2023 First day of the PTG "Costa del Alco" 5-day railtour. The route from Almería towards Moreda climbs over 3700 feet in about 50 miles, that's an average gradient of about 1 in 70, but with long stretches at 1 in 40. Some tour participants headed back from Almería to Granada on a service train, but I opted to wait for the railtour; some time at Almería was well spent getting beers from a supermarket then pizzas from Domino's.
